Bitumen emulsion CSS-1h is a mixture of bitumen droplets in the water phase with the help of a cationic emulsifier dissolved in water. It is a slow setting, as a result, it takes time for CSS-1h to dry after it is applied to a surface.

There is nearly 60% bitumen in CSS-1h with a high penetration value and the rest is water phase. It is made based on ASTM D 2397 M-13. The HS code of this product is 27150090.

CSS-1h  Applications

One of the most commonly used types of bitumen for road construction is CSS-1h. It is mainly used as prime coat.  In asphalt construction, prime coat bonds the binder course to the permeable base course. Thus the asphalt base can be maintained by CSS-1h.

It is designed for use in slurry seals to protect airports and urban roads.

The slow setting property of CSS-1h makes it ideal to cover surfaces in areas with very fine and eroded soil to prevent dust from spreading. It can be used successfully for soil stabilization, tack coats, fog seals, and as a dust suppressant.

CSS-1h is a safe and environmentally friendly alternative to cutbacks. One non-paving use is the mulch treatment of soil that has been seeded and fertilized. This work leads to the prevention of soil erosion and maintains the moisture and richness of the soil.

It can be used to make cold asphalt mixture where hot mix asphalt cannot be used.
