To produce the bitumen emulsion, more process should be done on it compared to pure bitumen. Also, one of the common bitumen emulsion packing which is IBC, is more expensive than new steel drum and jumbo bags which are pure bitumen packing.
These can cause the higher bitumen emulsion price compared to pure bitumen. Among pure bitumen, sometimes bitumen penetration 60/70 and bitumen emulsion CRS-1 have the same price.
The Bitumen Emulsion Price Compared to Cut Back Bitumen
Since the cut back bitumen has petroleum-based solvent, it has a higher price compared to bitumen emulsion which has water in it.
In terms of price, cutback bitumen MC30 is more expensive than cut back bitumen MC70. MC70 has a higher rate compared to MC250 and this grade of cut back is more expensive than the bitumen emulsion CSS-1.
And this is a constant relation between the price of these grades. As you saw, all grades of Cut Back Bitumen are more expensive than Bitumen Emulsion.
