What Is C-Class Bitumen?

C-Class bitumen is a viscosity-graded binder classified under Australian Standard AS 2008, widely specified in Australia and increasingly recognized in other markets for its clearly defined performance grading by viscosity at 60°C. The grade number (50, 170, 240, 320,450, 600) refers to the target viscosity in Pa.s, the higher the number, the stiffer and more heat-resistant the bitumen.

C170 Bitumen: Our Best-Selling Grade

C170 has a viscosity of 170 Pa.s at 60°C and higher penetration (around 70 dmm), giving it excellent flexibility and crack resistance in cooler climates. It's the standard choice for sprayed sealing and general-purpose road maintenance, and the grade we ship most often.

C320 Bitumen: Our Second Most-Requested Grade

C320 (viscosity 320 Pa.s at 60°C, penetration around 46 dmm) is stiffer than C170 and performs well in hot-mix asphalt for higher-traffic roads and warmer climates.

C240 and C600

We also supply C240 (an intermediate grade between C170 and C320) and C600 (the hardest grade in this range, suited to heavy-duty pavements such as ports, container yards, and industrial areas under sustained high loads).

Packing & Documentation

All grades are supplied in new steel drums or jumbo bags, giving you a consistent, easy-to-handle product on arrival. Every shipment is inspected by SGS and shipped with the standard export documentation required for customs clearance. Additional certificates can be arranged through our sales team if your project requires them. Want more technical detail on how these grades compare?
