The SGS company inspects the cargo in the customs and prepares a SGS report before exporting. 

The SGS report consists of 6 sections:

  1. Customer Information
  2.  Marking
  3.  Packing
  4.  Containers’ Data
  5.  Quantity 
  6. Lab Analysis

The most important part of this report is lab analysis. This part consists of different parameters which shows the cargo’s quality.

The SGS report is done by an international inspection company to become sure about the quality and quantity of the cargo before exporting.

First Section: Customer Information

  • The SGS report first section includes:
  • The customer company details
  • Cargo name
  • The location of sample inspection
  • The date of inspection

Second Section: Marking

The second section of the SGS report shows the details of the marking which is printed on the cargo’s packing.

On each type of the packing including new steel drum and jumbo bag, there exists a marking which shows the supplier company brand, the cargo type and grade. Sometimes, more information can be added to the marking like net and gross weight of the packing and origin of the cargo.

Third Section: Packing

In the packing section, the type of packing should be described. 

Also, the dimension of packing is expressed.

Fourth Section: Containers’ Data

In this section, the container number and SGS seal number is stated. Also, stuffing date and the number of packing in each container should be described in this part of the SGS report.

Fifth Section: Quantity 

In the Quantity section, total loaded containers number and total loaded drums is reported.

Sixth Section: Lab Analysis

This part is the main part of the SGS report which shows the cargo has an approved quality.

The SGS agent takes samples from the cargo and tests different properties of the product based on the international standards in the laboratory.

Each property should be in a distinct range to pass the quality.  The result of the laboratory tests is announced in this section.
